This April will mark 100 years of Wembley Stadium. Over the years, the venue has hosted various sporting events such as football, rugby union, the 1984 Olympics and American Football. The stadium has also played host to musical guests such as The Rolling Stones, Adele, George Michael, and global events such as Live Aid and Live Earth.
Originally commissioned for the British Empire Exhibition of 1924 and named The Empire Arena, the first turf was cut by King George V. Ahead of the exhibition, the stadium first hosted the FA Cup Final in 1923 and was attended by well over 300,000 eager fans to see the new national stadium. This is where the home of football began.
Designed to be demolished following the exhibition in 1924, a businessman connected to the organisation called for the stadium to stay open and for football to continue being played, given that the grounds had already been used for football since the 1880s. Today, Wembley is the UKs largest stadium and internationally recognised as one of the world’s most iconic arenas.
And thanks to this success, Wembley has become a go-to destination with a thriving food and restaurant scene. The area also benefits from fantastic transport links, via National Rail, London Overground and Tube, so it comes as no surprise that Wembley has become one of London’s most vibrant neighbourhoods to live.
With 100 years of placemaking under its belt, the next 100 is due to look even better.
Fulton & Fifth, developed by Regal London is celebrating all that Wembley has on offer by presenting new homes that bring an active lifestyle and community together. The new neighbourhood of over 800 homes will set the new standard for premium living and working to this established destination.
Jacob Sullivan, Sales and Marketing Director comments: “Wembley is an international neighbourhood and wears its culture and heritage with pride. Our new scheme aims to bring this to life by offering our new residents a healthy and flexible lifestyle. Sport is about bringing people together and Fulton & Fifth is about celebrating community.”
Jacob Sullivan, Sales and Marketing Director comments: “Wembley has grown immensely over the past couple of decades and through creating more housing and amenity at Fulton & Fifth, we want to reflect that thriving and cultural lifestyle.
Wembley has an aura about it, and we want our residents and wider community to enjoy a new destination that can soak up the buzzing energy – especially on game day.”
